Abstract: There is a large quantity of silicon particle, the aluminum alloy has always had the problem of unfavorable machinability. The large quantity of silicon particle is major causes that influence the roughness of finished surface bad and tool life short. Previously, this problem was avoided by using a large amount of lubricating oil during machining. But the side effects of this cutting process have caused many problems, such as environment pollution. Nowadays, with the increased environmental consciousness, there are increasing requirements for looking better cutting methods. In this study, the traditional cutting method has been changed. Small amount of vegetable lubricant oil and cold air were used on the cutting surface, to study the effects on the quality of machinability, and to find the possibility of semi-dry cutting method.
