Tribological Properties of Propylene Glycol Random Copolyether Aqueous Solutions

摘要: 选取丙二醇无规共聚醚(Propylene glycol random copolyether,PPE)作为水基润滑液的基础添加剂,研究了PPE水溶液的摩擦学性能。试验中首先利用MRS-10型四球试验机对PPE水溶液进行摩擦磨损性能、极压性能和稳定性能试验研究,试验结果表明PPE水溶液具有较好的减摩抗磨性能和稳定性能,质量分数为10%的PPE水溶液的最大无卡咬负荷(即PB值)在755~784 N之间。然后利用NGY-6型纳米膜厚测量仪对PPE水溶液进行成膜性能研究,结果表明PPE水溶液具备较好的成膜特性,PPE的加入大大提高了纯水的成膜能力,在一定质量分数范围内其膜厚随着水溶液质量分数的增大逐渐增大。总体而言,PPE是一种应用前景良好的水基润滑添加剂。

Abstract: In this research, Propylene glycol random copolyether (PPE) is selected as a water-based lubricant so as to study the tribological properties. Firstly, anti-friction/anti-wear, extreme pressure and stability performances are studied with the help of MRS-10 four-ball tribometry. Results indicate that PPE aqueous solutions have good characteristics in friction-reduction, wear-mitigation and stability, and the non-seizure value (PB) of the PPE aqueous solutions (10%) is between 755 N and 784 N, which is higher than traditional lubricant additives. Then, film-forming property is analyzed by nano scale film thickness measuring tester (NGY-6). Results show that PPE aqueous solutions have good film-forming property, and the inclusion of PPE further improves its film-forming ability over pure water. Moreover, the film thickness rises up with the concentration in certain concentration range of PPE. Overall, PPE is a green water-based lubricant additive with good engineering applications.
