Abstract: The development course of automotive fault diagnosis expert system and its current development situation are reviewed. After having analyzed the intelligent models of fault diagnosis expert system, the advantages and the limitation of all sorts of intelligent model are pointed out. In the end, the trend for the development of the fault diagnosis expert system is presented.
