Abstract: The applications of intelligence engineering to fault diagnosis for complex mechanical equipment is discussed. A new knowledge-based method, called integrated intelligent diagnosis (IID), is proposed to handle the hierarchical diagnostic model for complex mechanical equipment. The architecture and implementation of IID system are discussed in detail, and a prototype of IID system implemented on personal computers is also briefly described.
