Abstract: Lightweight materials such as aluminum, magnesium and titanium alloys are used more and more widely in industry fields including automobile, transportation, aviation and aerospace because of high specific strength, high specific stiffness, etc. R&D of the advanced forming technologies of lightweight alloys are of great significance in manufacturing lightweight components with high quality, low cost and short cycle, releasing the stress of energy and environment protection due to traffic and transport, and saving energy and reducing emission of tail gas. The forming technology and science of lightweight alloys has become one of the key disciplinary fields of our national economy development, defense construction, and development of science and technology. Lightweight alloy precision forming with high performance is the R&D frontier with both opportunity and challenge. This paper reviews the domestic and overseas research status, existing problems and development tendency of lightweight alloy forming technologies, analyzes and proposes the research frontier of the field, and finally gives the prospects of and suggestions on key development directions of lightweight alloy solidification forming, plastic forming, modeling simulation and optimization.

Key words: High performance, Lightweight alloy, Multi-field coupling, Multi-scale, Precision forming, Whole process modeling simulation and optimization
