Abstract: The concept of inverse radial lip seals is put forward. The sealing capacity of two models of inverse radial lip seals is analyzed. The current work aimed at a theoretical investigation into the influences of structural paraneters of hard sealing lip on the shaft and sealing liquid pressure on the contacting pressure distribution in the contact zone of sealing. The comparison with traditiondl radial lip seals at the same time is make. The results showed that inverse radial lip seals not only can present the non-symmetric pressure distribution in the sealing contact zone, but possess also better sealing characteristics by comparison with traditional radial lip seals. If the structure of hard sealing lip will be designed reasonably, inverse radial lip seals possess completely the dynamical sealing capacity. Under the support of further study words, especial experimental works, the prospect of inverse inverse radial lip seals in industrial application would thrive.
