Abstract: Four kinds of aluminum bronze coatings are fabricated by supersonic particles deposition (SPD) method under different propane pressure (0.469 MPa, 0.496 MPa, 0.524 MPa, 0.551 MPa). The microstructure, phase structure and oxygen content of coating are analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The mechanical properties are tested on a tensile testing machine and a hardness tester. The wear resistance properties are investigated by CETR wear tester. The results show that propane pressure has a significant effect on microstructure, mechanical properties and wear resistance properties. With the increase of propane pressure, porosity and oxygen content of coating are negatively correlated. The coating with propane pressure 0.524 MPa has relatively superior porosity (0.8%) and oxygen mass fraction (0.97%), which closes to balance between porosity and oxygen content. All the spray power and coatings are composed of α, β' and K phase, when the propane pressure is lower 0.524 MPa. The average hardness, adhesive strength and wearing capacity of the coating shows a first increases and then decreases trend, with the increase of propane pressure. The mechanical properties and wear resistance properties of aluminum bronze coatings fabricated by SPD with propane pressure 0.524 MPa are optimal respectively.
