Abstract: Machine tool selection for green manufacturing is a practical approach for reducing the resource consumption and negative environmental impact in mechanical processes. A reference system of decision-making objectives is setup for the machine tool selection by the consideration of resource consumption and environmental impact. The problem of the machine tool selection is classified by three levels. Each level is described with a mathematical approach. A machine tool selection model for each single feature is established, which also is useful for the other two level problems. To solve the model, gray relation coefficient and analytic hierarchy process algorithms are integrated together to construct a new analysis algorithm, which is called Grey relation & Hierarchy analysis algorithm. Based on the algorithm, a machine tool selection flow is presented, and a case study shows that the model is practical.
