Abstract: Oxidation tests of high Cr-Ni cast irons containing Mo, W and B are carried out at 800℃and 950℃ in air. It was shown by the results that the high temperature stability of (Cr, Fe)7C3 carbide containing appropriate contains of Mo, W or B was increased to some extent. The effect of the alloy elements on chemical stability of the carbide at high temperature is discussed from the viewpoints of the bonding forces between atoms and the Gibbs free energy.
