Abstract: The signals of the acoustic emission during welding are generated within materials being welding. The features of the AE generated during TIG welding, MAG welding and CO2 welding are investigated. Results show that there are closly relationship between features of acoustic emission and penetration as well as metal transfer. Results also show that the propagation of the acoustic emission signals generated by the arc being different positions related to the top of the gap are abviously different. Therefore, the parameters of the acousic emission waves generated by welding can be used to real-time control welding quality. A new way to real-time control welding quality is offered. Author successfully performed the welding both straight and curivlineal weld seam tracking controller developed by author.
