Abstract: In this paper, the Successive Element Method (SEM) in the plastic forming mechanics has been introduced. It is used for analyzing stress and calculating deformation force. In this paper, the application and the calculating procedure of SEM has been illustrated with examples and the advantages of it have been analyzed and discussed. Being compared with the slab method and other methods, the SEM is more simple and flexible, it is easier to evaluate mechanical problems of parts with complex shape; the difference of the work-hardening degree at every points of deformation body may conveniently be taken into account so that to make calculating results more accurate.
