Review of the Integrated Development of Strip Rolling Equipment- process-product Quality Control

Abstract: High quality strip steel production involves equipment, process and product quality, etc. In which, the equipment provides platform support for the process, process optimization and equipment innovation determine product quality improvement, while the end-user demand and product quality improvement again promote the equipment and process innovation. This spiral fusion development promotes the strip rolling equipment, process and product quality system integration and synergistic development. However, the low compatibility between strip rolling equipment, process, and product quality has become the bottleneck restricting the improvement of high-quality strip products and the innovative development of complete sets of equipment. Generate a new development trend from traditional single discipline to multi-disciplinary cross integration to jointly tackle the key core technology problems in the field of strip rolling. This paper focuses on the theory and technology of strip rolling, flexible adaptation of rolling systems, robust operation control of rolling equipment, and product shape and performance integration control. It summarizes and analyzes the latest progress in integrated control of strip rolling equipment, process, and product quality. Regarding the strip rolling and flexible adaptation of the rolling system, this paper focuses on the need for more flexible adaptation control under the loaded roll gap change and mill systems’ transient mutation state. The current theory and technology of loaded roll gap shape control for strip mills are discussed. Moreover, the equipment-process-product adaptation in strip rolling is put forward to improve the equipment’s supporting role and platform effectiveness. Regarding the robust operation control of strip rolling mill equipment, this paper analyzes the critical scientific and technical problems that need to be solved in sensing tests, systems robust operation control, and the health quality control of critical components of strip rolling equipment to provide technical support for the high quality of the rolling. Regarding rolling strip products’ shape and performance integration control, this paper analyses the cross-scale synergistic control of the strip steel’s shape, size, surface quality, microstructure, and performance. The roller-piece integrated control theory and technology are proposed. It will provide theoretical support for the intelligent and efficient synergistic control of the strip steel’s integrated shape and performance. Finally, with equipment technology as the basis, the production process as the key, and product quality as the goal, the development of integrated control of strips and rolling mills are summarized and prospected.
