Abstract:

The performance of disc cutter is a crucial parameter in TBM design. For an accurate prediction of disk cutter performance, a comprehensive forecasting model for the circular blade cutter is established. Considering parameters of rock, cutter, and construction technology, and applying differential calculus, the compressed rock is taken as the research object to establish the model based on rock fracture mechanics. Meanwhile, the concept of secondary derived thrust is proposed and the secondary derived thrust calculation model is deduced to fix the prediction model to meet the actual condition according to the Coulomb-Mohr failure criterion. Then, data from Colorado School of Mines is applied to verify the prediction model. Comparing with linear cutting model and CSM model, the precision of the prediction model is higher than the existing models. The influence law of disc cutter performance by the parameters of rock, cutter and construction technology is obtained by theoretical analysis and designing the orthogonal experiment with three factors three levels, which can be a reference for designing the cutter head in TBM and actual construction.
