Abstract: Based on some problems existing in the research of enterprise modeling, the semantic, syntax and application criterion of RCM (Result-chain based modeling) method is put forward. As examples, RCM is used to analyze the specific situation of a project decision, an enterprise’s CIM system and the product developing subsystem of CIMS implementation. Research result shows that because RCM emphasizes on the interrelationships between different parts of the system and their contribution to the ultimate aim of the enterprises, RCM chart can help to distinguish relationships among systems, technology, organizations, persons, decisions and evaluating systems and to find the best approach to benefit from their IT investment, namely, lowest costs and minimized risks. RCM is a new methodology to solve the problem in high technology implementation, so it’s an effective complementation to traditional modeling methods.
