Abstract: In this paper the author analyzed the method to design the number of gear teeth in the gear box of standard metal cutting machine and proposed a new graphical method. This method is well in compliance with the principles of simplicity, economy and reasonableness; and has a wide range of application. In addition, in the appendix of this paper are included charts necessary for designing the number of gear teeth. This method has important significance for designing metal cutting machines.
