Abstract: By considering the chain as an elastic body, a precise theoretical method is developed to determine the non-uniformity of the rotating motion of the driven wheel due to the polygonal action in chain drive. Differential equations are first set up to define the angular velocity w of the driven wheel for two limiting cases kinematically.
