Abstract: The chemical plating is used as a precursory procedure to metallize ceramics surface, and then ceramic to ceramic or to metal is brazed in glow discharge furnace without flux. It is shown by experiments that copper, chosen as the material of the plating layer, can effectively improve the brazability of ceramics. Provided the plating layer thickness is enough and the brazing parameters are suitable, a satisfactory joint, with good looking and sufficient strength and without discontinuity, can be obtained. In addition to the influences of the technological parameters, the joint microstracture and the jointing mechanism are discussed. This process can extensively be used in industry.
