Finite Element Analysis of Fractures in the Process of Digital Multi-point Forming for Retiary Sheet Metal

Abstract: Multi-point drawing forming model is made by an explicit finite element software, the forming in drawing process of retiary sheet metal and sheet metal with different thickness are simulated. The fractures can be found during the process based on the forming limit diagram. Numerical simulation results show that the retiary sheet metal is prone to fracture under the same condition, then the reasons for it is also analyzed, and a fracture critical graph for forming part is obtained. The numerical simulation and test are done for the forming mode with elastic medium and steel backing plate placed between the basic substance and the retiary sheet metal. The test results show that the forming effect of retiary sheet metal is quite good, which complies with the simulation result.
