STUDY ON THE DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE OF A SPUR GEAR PAIR BY LINEARIZATION METHOD

Abstract: A finite element model is first established to represent a spur gear pair, then the model’s non-linear equation is linear zed, finally dynamic transmission error (DTE), contact force and dynamic response are obtained by combining finite element method and contact mechanics. This method shows itself a significant advantage in gear dynamic behavior research. The transformation from non-linear model to linear equation makes it possible to avoid long iterative routine and expedite its convergence process. What is more, the application of contact mechanics theory on the contact areas enable us to obtain sufficient resolution with much few finite elements comparing to pervious investigation.
