Abstract: The configuration of ultra-capacitor based single-shaft parallel hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is introduced initially. The multiple energy management system is developed to realize integration of software and hardware which originally belong to engine management system and vehicle management system respectively. The steady-state calibration experiment conducted on dynamometer provides universal characteristic, basic spark advance, volumetric efficiency and specific fuel consumption of engine. The vehicle test bench results indicate that the HEV equipped with electronic throttle and transient fuel compensation strategy has lower emission and meet the emission standard of National Ⅲ level and National Ⅳ level. By increasing fuel-injecting speed to 1.2 kr/min to avoid low-speed enrichment and eliminate idle condition, the fuel consumption of HEV is reduced by 8%~10%. with the optimization air/fuel ratio and spark advance, the light off time of three-way catalytic converter is decreased and cold-start emission is improved. This integrated design structure of software and hardware brings down R&D cost and speeds up mass production of HEV.
