Smart Healthy Working from Human-cyber-physical System(HCPS) Perspective

Abstract: In recent years, health problems of office workers have become increasingly serious. Keeping and promoting the health and well-being of office workers is the focus of modern society. With the rapid development of new generation of information technologies, a concept of “smart healthy working” is proposed based on human centered philosophy. Then, system elements of the working process are described in detail. To better understand the cyber-system-enabled revolution, the characteristics of traditional healthy working and smart healthy working are analyzed from a human-cyber-physical system(HCPS) perspective. After that, a HCPS-based research framework of smart healthy working with corresponding three dimensions is proposed, which provided the guidance for the future practice of the HCPS concept and the development of smart healthy working. Finally, a case study of smart healthy workstation is given to briefly introduce the technological developments to address musculoskeletal health issues of office workers. It is the first time to discuss with smart healthy working from a HCPS perspective, and it is hoped that this work can attract more open discussions and gain cross-disciplinary insights to enrich and refine the theory and technologies for smart healthy working.
