Abstract: The performance of the active noise control (ANC) system with adaptive algorithm based on minimum least mean square error criterion would be seriously degraded under impulsive interference. Many robust algorithms are proposed by researchers to control the impulsive noise and maintain the steady performance of the ANC system. Robust adaptive algorithms for active impulsive noise control are summarized in this paper and classified into four categories according to the criterion they obey:fractional lower order moment-based algorithm, non-linear transformation-based algorithm, information theory learning-based algorithm, and other robust algorithms, respectively. The development history of various algorithms is reviewed, and the theoretical background of each type of algorithm is summarized. Convergence speed, steady-state error, robustness, and problems faced in practical applications of different algorithms in active controlling impulsive noise with different intensities are analyzed through simulation analysis.
