Abstract:

:Measurement of microstructure turbulence plays an important part in researching the changing law of ocean interior. Airfoil shear probe is the effectual tool to measure oceanic turbulence. Due to the stable movement, underwater glider is an ideal carrying platform for airfoil shear probe, and can provide a new technical way for ocean turbulence measurement. By dealing with the integration of airfoil shear probe and underwater glider, the design and sea trials of the underwater glider for micro-structure turbulence measurement are completed. Analyzing the constraint conditions of underwater glider for airfoil shear probe is conducted considering both the airfoil shear probe’s requirements and underwater glider’s motion feature. The influence of the way and installation position of airfoil shear probe on turbulence measurement are studied, and the optimized integration method is determined. Motion feature of underwater glider for micro-structure turbulence measurement is also analyzed. Sea trials are conducted to verify the underwater glide measurement system motion characteristic and the validity of turbulence measurement.
