Abstract: To suppress the noise of vehicle brakes, an optimization method to reduce instable coefficient of complex mode to improve stability of a disc brake system is presented. It is based on response surface method (RSM) and optimization technique. In the proposed method, a second-order response surface approximate model of complex mode is built up, based on the disc brake vibration stability analysis, finite element model, Latin hypercube sampling and the least squares method. The structural parameters of brake system are taken for the design variables, the instable coefficient of complex mode is taken as the optimization objective, and genetic algorithm is applied to optimize the response surface approximation model. The analysis and optimization of a float caliper disc brake system is carried out, the results show that the proposed method can greatly improve the optimization efficiency and effectively reduce the instability coefficient of the brake complex mode, so as to improve the brake stability, reduce the generation of brake noise, achieve the purpose of improving vehicle noise, vibration, harshness (NVH) performance.
