Abstract: In order to obtain the science and technology innovation, it needs to intensify innovational thinking ability. The innovational thinking ability contains abstract thinking, imagery thinking and inspiration thinking. Generally, people consider that the imagery thinking is of especial effect for the science and technology innovation as it brings the inspiration, but it is not abstract thinking and cannot be used for logical ratiocination in science research. However, the imagery thinking can be transferred into two kinds of rational thinking under two constraint conditions. The first one is “the amalgamation of the precise rational thinking and imagery thinking”; and the second is “the imagery thinking with the jump and under some condition and logical constraints”. After these transformations they can be directly applied for logistic ratiocination in science research instead of the algebra logical illation. Since the application of such imagery thinking the different issues can be solved rapidly in some cases and it appeared wonderful effect. The other two imagery thinking often applied in science research are also listed, and then there are four kinds of imagery thinking in total for science research. Many mechanism examples from the decades are given to show the principle, and the rational knowledge is obtained just coming from these examples, and the practice experiences are raised and generalized.

Key words: Abstract thinking, Imagery thinking, Inspiration thinking, Mechanism, Science and technology innovation
