Abstract: As to two bolts double lap joints connecting composite laminates with beveled metal plates, the pin load distributions of seven joints of different geometric parameters are calculated and analyzed based on the finite element software ANSYS. The effect of bolt diameters and metal plate thickness on pin load distribution is researched, results show that reducing the diameter of bolt near the loading end and metal plate thickness of non beveled side is good for improving the pin load ratio, whereas increasing or reducing the diameter of bolt away from the loading end is both helpless for optimizing pin load distribution. The simulation of damage accumulation and calculated ultimate strength under static tension load for equal diameter bolted joints above used beveled metal plates and equal thickness ones show that the initial damage load of each laminate layer and joint failure load in beveled lap joints are all higher than that in equal thickness lap joint. And calculation show that above beveled joint can sustain pin load distribution superior to the equal thickness joint under ultimate failure load, then conclusion that the former have higher joining strength depending on its pin load distribution advantage keeping from initial load to final failure is obtained.
