Variable Gap Amendment of Cathode for the Electrochemical Machining of Turbine Blade

Abstract: For improving the accuracy of blade electrochemical machining(ECM), the variable gap amendment method of cathode is proposed and a mathematical model of this method is presented. The correction data of cathode are variable based on the value of interelectrode gap and are used to the cathode design. The approximate formula of cathode correction data which are calculated along the contours line is given and the experimental method of interpolation approximation is adopted. The experimental investigations are carried out by using a new self-designed blade ECM tool system. The results show that the accuracy of blade is improved to 0.05 mm by using the cathode amendment method three times.
