Demodulation Approach Based on Wavelet Ridge and Its Application in Fault Diagnosis of Rotating Machinery

Abstract: A new method for extracting fault features of rotating machinery by utilizing wavelet ridge is proposed after the analysis of the relationship between the wavelet ridge and the instantaneous frequency and instantaneous amplitude of the signal. An improved ridge algorithm which changes the iteration threshold adaptively at the divergence points is brought forward to solve the problem of iterative divergence that exists in the wavelet ridge iterative extraction algorithm. Simulation result shows that the algorithm antinoise performance. And the characteristic of extracting the wavelet ridge for the multi-component signal with the improved ridge algorithm is further investigated. The method is applied to the fault diagnosis of gearboxes and rolling bearings. The results show that this method can effectively extract the features of fault vibration signals of rotating machinery.
