Abstract: By introducing rigid plastic constitution relationsh-ip，the numerical manifold method (NMM)analyzing system for simulating the metal forming process is put forward. The remeshing problem for simulating the metal forming process is also studied. As an example，the forging process of gear blank is numerically simulated. The numerical example shows that the theory is correct and the calculating method is effective. The NMM is quite suitable for simulating the metal forming process
