Abstract: Advantages and disadvantages of profiling method of existing hardened gear face pinion type cutter are analyzed．Based on these，the new profiling method and profiling theory is expounded emphatically and the superiority of this kind of pinion type cutter is discussed．The profiling precision raise over twice as high，the ability of breakage resistance is high but also tool life is long，the hardened gear face pinion type cutter can meet the requirements of machining of the hard face gear with high precision．
