Abstract: A numerical method is used to analyze and calculate the adhesion forces between rails and a single wheelset of a high speed locomotive, there for variations of the driving torque applied to the single wheelset, caused by speeds, wheelset positions relative to track, ship velocity differences between the wheelset and rails, are found, In the numerical analysis Kalkers simplified theory is employed and modified, also kinetic friction coefficient exerted by slip velocities between the particle pairs in the contact areas of wheels and rails is taken into account. The numerical results obtained are very important to adhesion control for higher speed locomotives.

Key words: Adhesion, Driving torque, High speed train, Slip velocity difference
