Abstract: The artificial intelligence strategy to the optimum design of parameter in anti-friction oscilliating gear transmission is described. A set of approaches quite different from the traditional mathematical programming method is presented, by setting up state space of discrete-variables to which the intelligence search strategy is applied. The object-oriented expert system for this is developed. It is shown that expert system is very suitable for dealing with discrete-variables and non-numerical constraints which are very popular in optimum design of engineering structure.
