STUDY ON DYNAMIC FLASH TEMPERATURE FOR INVOLUTE HELICAL GEARS

Abstract: The inadequacy of ISO flash temperature equation in calculating surface flash temperature on helical gear teeth is analysed. Based on the theory on solid surface temperature distribution, a method for calculating surface flash temperature on helical gear teeth is established with the help of ISO equation. Three-dimensional finite element method is used to calculate the load distribution of helical gear teeth and thus the state of surface flash temperature distribution of helical gear teeth is successfully worked out. Actual flash temperature distribution on helical gear teeth is measured by the dynamic thermocouple method. Compared with the theoretical result, the corresponding one is obtained and a valuable conclusion is reached.
