COMPUTATIONAL THINKING FOR GEAR SCUFFING BASED ON THE VIEW-POINT OF SYSTEM AND IT'S TIME-VARIABILITY

Abstract: Corresponding to the mechanism of gear scuffing presented by the authors, the computational procedure is developed. Based on the viewpoint of system and its time-variabitity, the working state of a tribology system can be influenced by various factores, such as frictional heat, mechanical properties of friction surfaces, expansion in friction bodies, lubricational properties of oil, status of lubrication, lubricational capacity of boundary film, contact state and frictional coefficient. The variation of these factores and their influece on the working state of the system are quantatively analysed. To fit to this analysis, the parameteres for discribting the .working state of a tribology system and criteriones far different forms of scuffing failure are presented. From above, the computing method for predicting the occurrence of scuffing and its severity is built.
