Abstract: The aims of this study were to investigate the grinding performance of three different grinding wheels in the grinding of high speed tool steel (M2). An experimental study using a surface grinding machine (ABWOOD) was undertaken to investigate the material removal rates, specific grinding energy and workplace thermal integrity under different grinding conditions. A purpose made jig was made to secure data for the dynamic wear characteristics of each wheel in griading process. Grinding performance of CBN wheel proved to be the best of the three wheels. CBN superabrasive’s success will lead to its application throughout a much wider field of hard ferrous metal machining.
