Determination of Power Flow and Calculation of Transmission Efficiency for 2K-H Closed Epicyclic Gear Train

Abstract: Research on transmission efficiency for gear train is of great significance to reduce the energy consumption and improve the performance of device. Taken 2K-H closed epicyclic gear train as the research object, a method to determine power flow and calculate transmission efficiency is proposed. Firstly, the integral method along the meshing line is used to build the meshing efficiency model of internal and external gear pairs with continuous transmission. Secondly, according to direction of meshing torque and rotation of gear, a method to judge the driving and driven gear is given and the power flow is determined. Finally, according to the structural characteristics of 2K-H closed epicyclic gear train, the power flow graph is drawn, and the power through the gear pair is respectively calculated by the split-flow power theory and virtual power theory, and then the transmission efficiency model for 2K-H closed epicyclic gear train is built. Taken an H closed epicyclic gear train as the example, the circulating power flow is judged by the above method, and the transmission efficiency for the improved gear train is calculated. The influence of look-up table value of gear pair transmission efficiency on gear train transmission efficiency is compared. The results show that the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of gear train transmission efficiency is up to 0.016 5, and the error is large. The influence of teeth number on transmission efficiency for gear train is analyzed, which changes in the same direction as the teeth number. Therefore, the calculation method of meshing/transmission efficiency for gear pair instead for look-up table method makes the model of gear train transmission efficiency more accurate. The proposed method is compared with the existing methods and it provides theoretical guidance for the subsequent improvement of transmission performance of gear trains.
