Abstract: After difficulties of CAPP system generalization discussed, proposed is to implement a CAPP framework with a general mechanism. A new method, called as information element method (IEM), concerning information modeling and system development of CAPP framework is brought up. Beginning discussion are present on the basic points of IEM, its application, its advantages and disadvantages. Key technologies and a example scheme to build CAPP framework by IEM are set forth. THCAPP-SHELL, a CAPP framework, is described as an example.
