Abstract: This article deals with the minicar design problem in China, especially those aime to take the place of manual labour "Pedicabs" in medium and large cities. Based on the development work carried on in Tsing-Hua University, the general layout, engine transmission, and other chassis assemblies are discussed. This paper also gives a rather detail discription of the construction of the minicar now in small quantity production in peking, and above all, states why it is designed so, from a designers point of view.
