Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Friction Stir Welds on 6063-T6 Aluminum Alloy

摘要: 采用搅拌摩擦焊(Friction stir welding,FSW)对10 mm的6063-T6铝合金分别进行单、双面焊接,并探究焊接速度对接头微观组织及力学性能变化的影响。结果表明,单双面焊接接头“S”线形貌基本保持一致且集中在前进侧轴肩影响区,单面焊有更明显的洋葱环形貌。焊核区中部区域等轴晶晶粒尺寸小于上部轴肩影响区,且单面焊焊核区晶粒尺寸大于双面焊。搅拌摩擦焊旋转速度为1 500 r/min,焊接速度由300 mm/min增至1 400 mm/min时,接头力学性能先升高后降低,且双面焊接头力学性能始终优于单面焊。接头抗拉强度峰值为187 MPa,断裂位置多位于后退侧热影响区,与接头最低硬度位置保持一致,主要断裂模式为韧性断裂。

Abstract: Single-sided and double-sided welding of 10 mm 6063-T6 aluminum alloys are carried out by friction stir welding, and the effect of welding speed on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the joints are investigated. The results indicate that the shape of the "S" lines of single-sided and double-sided welded joints are essentially the same and concentrate on the advancing side of the shoulder affected zone, meanwhile the single-sided welded joints show more obvious onion ring shapes. The equiaxed grain size in the central region of the weld nugget is smaller than that in the upper shoulder affected area, and the grain size of the single-sided weld nugget is larger than that of double-sided welding. When the rotational speed is 1 500 r/min and the welding speed increased from 300 mm/min to 1 400 mm/min, the mechanical properties of the joints first undergo an increase and then a decrease. During the process, the mechanical properties of the double-sided welded joints are always better than single-sided welded joints. For all the welded joints, the maximal tensile strength is 187 MPa, and the fracture position is mostly located in the heat-affected zone on the receding side, which is exactly the same position of the joint with lowest hardness. Besides, the main fracture type is ductile fracture.
