Identification of the Drivers of Multi-DOF Kinematic Chains

Abstract: For a given kinematic chain, choosing different drivers will produce different mechanisms to achieve different functions and trajectories, sometimes mechanisms maybe lose the ability to movement. Therefore, identifying drivers is an important part in the type synthesis of mechanisms. Based on the concept of the mobility factors of the kinematic chains, by analyzing single loop mobility factor, the identification method of the drivers of multi-DOF kinematic chains is proposed, which verifies the correctness and effectiveness of this method. Mathematical analysis is used to describe the methods in the examples, and it achieves the automatic identification kinematic chain drivers. This method can be used to identify the drivers of planar kinematic chain and build the foundation for further research and analysis of kinematic chains.
