Abstract: For the active magnetic bearings (AMB)-rotor systems equipped on the moving carrier, the undesired vibration due to its base motion is one of main disturbance sources. A single-DOF supporting model and a multi-DOF rotor model are analyzed both in the condition of the base motion. It can be indicated that, if the rotor gyroscopic effect is inconsiderable, the rotor vibration due to the base excitation can be regarded as the equivalent acceleration disturbance from its base motion. An adaptive control method based on FIR filter is proposed for suppressing the rotor vibration due to the base excitation, which needs the base acceleration signal acting as the reference signal for the adaptive filter. The indicated contents include the signal type for vibration suppressing, the orders of the adaptive filter, the optimal convergence result of the filter weights and so on. The experiments, which are carried out on an AMB-rigid rotor test rig with a vertical shaft, indicate that the proposed method achieves the good effectiveness for suppressing the rotor vibration due to the steady-going base excitation. It can avoid the rotor impacting the stator.
