Abstract: The theory of mathematical morphology is tried applying to extract detects in x-ray welding images. Then the morphology filtering theory is developed to the adaptive morphology filtering method, in which the structuring element can be adjusted automatically with the size of defects being extracted. The experiment result using this method is satisfactory.
