Abstract: The new curve fit procedures to frequency response obtained by Fourier transform of the impulse response are proposed. These procedures are the methods called in the papers MSSE (the Minimization of Sum of Square of Error due to the fitting), COLP (the Comparison of the data and the analysis at the Least Points for the identification), ELEF (the Evaluation of Lobe Effect from other degrees or Freedom system). Application of these to an engine lathe structure revealed that plural single degrees of freedom system existing closely each other can be separated. It turns out that the curve fit procedures of this kind is applicable as well to higher degrees of freedom system than ever been made. The natural frequencies thus obtained agree pretty good with those by frequency response method, and these procedures work stably even for the case of 40 or 50 degrees of freedom system. The computer time can significantly be reduced as the result of employing the method ELEF.
