Abstract: The meaning of the manufacturing technology is discussed. The board manufacturing theory is put forward, and its concept and forming are discussed through the mechanism of the material process forming, synthesis of manufacturing technology, integrated manufacturing technology and its support environment. Process is the key of the manufacturing tech-nology, is the active factor of the product, and has formed the manufacturing science are mentioned. The developments of the manufacturing theory and technology of 20th century are dis-cussed through the process theory, precision engineering, nano-technology, computer integrated manufacturing system and concurrent engineering, non-traditional process technology, rapid prototype (part) manufacturing and surface engineering etc., and several opinions of the development is put forward from the self of the manufacturing technology based on them.
