Abstract: The tilting torque in a typical melting period for the 300t oxygen converter, which uses the multiple-point meshing transmission system with flexible support as its tilting mechanism, is obtained by investigation and statistics. The system’s load spectrum and stress spectrum of the main shaft are established for the first lime. The Rychlik rainflow counting method has been introduced to the calculation of the fatigue damage distribution for the stress spectrum of the main shaft in one typical melting period. The main shaft’s fatigue life and reliability are calculated by the rule of fatigue accumulating damage.
