Abstract: Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) has been widely adopted in manufacturing key load-bearing parts in advanced equipment due to its high specific strength, high specific strength, etc. However, the delamination defect may be introduced during manufacturing. These defects are randomly distributed in the workpiece. If the delamination zone and the drilling zone overlapped, the mechanism of drilling damage would be more complicated, and the quality of the hole would be difficult to guarantee. In order to promise the quality of drilling hole and reveal the influence mechanism of delamination defect on the hole quality. The research is aimed to analyze the dynamic expansion behavior of delamination defect, and a model is established to calculate the critical condition which the delamination begin to propagate and the expansion length of the delamination during the chisel edge depress the delamination. The expansion behavior of delamination defect can be observed online through the drilling experiment; finally the effect of the tool position on the defect expansion behavior can be obtained. The researches provide a theoretical basis for suppressing delamination expansion.
