Analysis of Power Ultrasonic Honing Cavitation Test

Abstract: Cavitation will occur in the process of power ultrasonic honing, to explore the influence of cavitation on the material surface processed, ultrasonic honing cavitation orthogonal test is conducted and three indicators that maximum pit diameter, surface erosion rate and surface roughness are analyzed, which can respectively represent the single bubble collapse strength, the whole cavitation strength and the impact of cavitation on material surface quality, the results show:Cavitation leads to micro dips on material surface, the main factors influencing the maximum dip diameter are distance and amplitude in turn, the smaller the distance and the greater the amplitude, the larger the maximum dip diameter; the main factors affecting the surface erosion rate are test time and distance in turn; and amplitude is the greatest influence on the surface roughness, the sample surface roughness reduces and surface quality improves in the condition of distance 5 mm, amplitude 65% and test time 1/3 min. Therefore, cavitation effect helps to improve the workpiece surface quality in ultrasonic honing under certain conditions, the test analysis results have reference significance to the actual processing of ultrasonic honing.
