A Novel On-Line Monitoring Method of Remanufacturing HSS Work Roll Degeneration Based on Pulsed Eddy Current Testing

Abstract: The cladding layer of remanufacturing roll is prone to complex oxidation degradation in high temperature and humid working environment, and the degradation of roll surface have a great impact on the quality of products. The degradation mechanism of remanufacturing work roll under industrial hot rolling condition is revealed by hot rolling simulation test. It is found that martensite carbon precipitates and alloy carbides decompose and precipitate in HSS cladding layer during hot rolling, which leads to the decrease of hardness and magnetic softening of martensite matrix. Based on the magnetic softening of martensite matrix in cladding layer, a set of pulse eddy current monitoring method and system for oxidation degradation process of remanufacturing work roll is established. Variational mode decomposition- Hilbert (VMD-Hilbert) Transform was proposed to extract information of pulse eddy current response signal effectively, and the problem of mode mixing in Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) is solved. Finally, the marginal spectrum weighted sum of pulsed eddy current signals within the frequency range of 0-5 000 Hz was presented as a new feature, degradation state of remanufactured HSS work roll is quantitatively characterized. The pulsed eddy current online monitoring method constructed in this paper can be used to monitor the high temperature degradation process of all kinds of remanufacturing work rolls and has broad application prospects.
