Abstract: Theoretical analysis is presented on high frequency wheel-rail stochastic vibrations which are generated by small-scale roughnesses on the running surfaces of wheels and rails. A comprehensive analytical model is established to describe the high frequency interaction of the wheel-rail systems. The wheel-rail interaction relationships including contact geometry, contact stiffness, and contact filtering are considered. The impedances of vehicle and track are derived. The response spectra of high frequency stochastic vibrations of the wheel-rail systems are given out analytically.
