RESEARCH ON CURVATURE DISTRIBUTION AND RESILIENCE CONTROL DURING MULTI-POINT FORMING PROCESS

Abstract: The deformation characteristics of the MPF (Multi-point forming) and the stamping processes are analyzed. It is pointed out that both these forming methods belong to the multi-point bending process by nature. The cylindrically bending processes in different manners, such as, multi-point die forming (MPDF), multi-point press forming (MPPF) and die stamping, are simulated by the finite element method. The rule of the curvature uniformity along the strip length and the shaping precision is drawn out. Then the method named multi-point alternating forming (MPAF) that is propitious to the curvature uniformity and the resilience control is presented. The mechanism of the resilience control for the MPAF method is interpreted based on the comparison between the MPDF and MPAF methods, And the effect of the alternating times on the resilience control is also studied.
